Beginning
in 1852, all register of wills in Pennsylvania counties were required to keep
separate registrations of births. However, this legislation was short
lived and was repealed in 1855 leaving a small range of years for vital
records.
An index is in the front section. Names within this birth register are arranged chronologically by the date recorded. Not every birth was registered in compliance with this law. Researchers should consult church records for additional birth record sources.
