A Millersville man will serve up to 46 years in prison for sex abuse of two girls that happened for nearly 10 years.

Joseph J. Madonna Jr., 82, was recently sentenced to 14 to 46 years in prison, in accordance with Lancaster County Judge Howard Knisely’s sentence.

Madonna was convicted at a June trial of numerous charges regarding abuse that went on for over 8 years, beginning in 2007 when the girls were pre-teens.

Assistant District Attorney Fritz Haverstick, who won the conviction, said the behavior involved some of “the most repulsive crimes committed against another person.”

Judge Knisely, while ordering sentence, said Madonna treated the girls as “objects.”

The jury returned guilty verdicts to 15 total charges, including 13 felonies, one being rape of a child.

The abuse happened at Madonna’s former home in Manor Township and in his home and a vehicle in Millersville.

Madonna was an acquaintance of the girls’ families.

The victims testified at trial.

Manor Township police Detective Tricia Mazur and Millersville Borough police Detective Jason Scott filed charges.
