[ARCHIVED] Lancaster County Coach Charged with Sex Crimes Against 2 Girls

Danial R. Miller

A Lancaster County wrestling coach is charged with sex crimes against two 16-year-old girls.

Danial R. Miller, 24, was arraigned Friday morning on 7 counts, including 5 felonies, for crimes against the girls last year.

Miller, then assistant junior varsity wrestling coach at Pequea Valley High School, abused the girls on Dec. 28 at a wrestling tournament in Columbia County. Miller, of Gap, also abused one of the girls on multiple occasions earlier in December.

Assistant District Attorney Fritz Haverstick will prosecute the charges regarding the tournament in Lancaster County, having obtained jurisdiction from Columbia County.

Pennsylvania State Police Trooper Nelson Renno filed charges.

Miller is charged with institutional sexual assault (because the victims are students) and related counts. District Judge Raymond Sheller arraigned Miller and set bail at $150,000, which was posted.

As conditions of bail, Miller will be on house arrest with electronic monitoring and is to have no contact with the victims.

Police became aware of the conduct after one of the girls reported the incidents at the Dec. 28 tournament.

Police learned that Miller also provided alcohol and marijuana for the victims at the tournament. The substances were not consumed. Miller is charged with corruption of minors.

Additional, police found that Miller has sexually abused one of the victims, multiple times, at a location in Salisbury Township.

In all, he is charged with institutional sexual assault, corruption of minors (two counts), unlawful contact with a minor (two counts), solicitation of institutional sexual assault, and indecent exposure.

Miller is presumed innocent.
