[ARCHIVED] Commonwealth vs. Richard Lawerence

On January 31, 2014, a jury convicted Richard E. Lawrence of all counts. Lawrence was charged with

1. Corruption of Minors (F3)
2. Corruption of Minors (M1)
3. Indecent Exposure (M2)
4. Unlawful Contact With Minor (F3)

The jury was out for approximately 40 minutes.

Lawrence had previously pled guilty to the above-listed offenses, but withdrew his plea when the Commonwealth gave notice that we would invoke the second or third strike provisions of the sex offender law. Lawrence has multiple prior sex offense convictions out of Virginia.

The victim in the present case was a sixteen year old Amish boy. Charges were filed by Corporal Philip Matson, PSP.
Judge Miller revoked bail and ordered a Pre-Sentence Investigation. Lawrence will be referred to the Sexual Offenders Assessment Board.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney James Reeder.
