Two of three fugitives wanted in a recent beating at Buchanan Park were taken into custody Wednesday morning.
Giri Ganesh, 27, and Ishwor Chhetri, 26, were arrested, at separate addresses, by the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit and Lancaster city police.
Bhanu Bhattarai, 26, is still wanted. Anyone with information about his whereabouts should contact police at 735-3301 or the Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit at 723-4929.
All three are charged with aggravated assault for their roles in an April 11 beating at Buchanan Park in Lancaster city.
The victim, a man, suffered a brain bleed, broken nose, and facial fractures.
Ganesh and Chhetri will be arraigned on the charges. Bail will be set at that time.
Ganesh was arrested at a home in the 500 block of Juniata Street, Lancaster city. Chhetri was arrested at a home in the 700 block of Barrcrest Lane, West Hempfield Township.
Both are presumed innocent.
The Fugitive Apprehension Unit and Lancaster city police, in a joint operation, arrested both Wednesday without incident.
Regarding the beating, the victim told police he was at a Lancaster city bar playing pool with the three men later identified as those charged.
The three men offered him a ride home about 9 p.m. Instead of taking him home, they took him to Buchanan Park and beat him.
He was punched, kicked, and strangled with a belt. The three men also took off much of his clothes.
The victim was taken to Lancaster General Hospital, admitted, and treated for his injuries.
In a police interview days later, Chhetri had blood on his pants.
Lancaster city police Officer Michael Deitz filed charges.
