[ARCHIVED] Burglary Scam Alert

On 12-4-2013 at approx 1420 hours, an elderly female victim had a white male knock at her door (Ephrata) and claim to be from the water authority. The suspect stated that they were working nearby and cracked a pipe and they needed to check her water to see if there was a problem.

She allowed him into her home where he went to the kitchen faucet and ran water and advised that there may be a problem if there’s green dye in her water. While they were in the home, the Suspects rummaged through Victim's belongings in search of valuables.

Suspect # 1) White male approx 25, 5’5, chubby face, dark clothes, ID on lanyard
Suspect #2) White male, approx 25, 5’7, dark clothes.

Abington PD (Montgomery Co) is also investigating a similar incident. Any agency with similar incidents should contact Detective Bradley Ortenzi, Ephrata Police Department (EPD), at (717) 738-9200, extension 243.
