The Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Investigations Unit (Troop J, Lancaster), York Area Regional Police Detective(s), East Earl Police, Ephrata Police Detective(s), Akron Borough Police, New Holland Police Detective(s), West Earl Twp Police, West Hempfield Police Detective(s), PSP Troop H, Harrisburg CIU and North Hopewell Police working together have solved a crime spree that occurred last August to October. Arrests have been made recently of the above listed actors in connection to nineteen (19) Burglaries most of which were of residences (homes).
Five (5) incidents were Armed Robberies of stores. At the Hess Express in Brickerville (Elizabeth Twp), John CARTER shot at the clerk when he was told that he could not get the money for him. The firearms used were stolen from several residences in Lancaster County.
In the burglaries, the actors got away with guns, money, jewelry and electronics totaling tens of thousands of dollars all together. Multiple firearms have been recovered at this point.
All were arrested and arraigned in District Court 02-3-06 before MDJ Rodney HARTMAN. Bail was set as follows for each:
CARTER: $500,000.00
STAUFFER: $150,000.00
KILHEFNER: $200,000.00
BARNARD: $ 200,000.00
STRAWSER was charged in York and Dauphin Counties and bail is unknown.
These defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
All were remanded to Lancaster County Prison. Others that assisted in the investigation were: Lancaster Co Detectives, Special Agents from the US Secret Service, and the US Marshall Task Force.
