[ARCHIVED] Ex-High School Dive Coach Jailed for Sex Abuse of Pre-Teen, Having Child Pornography

A Lancaster man will serve up to seven years in state prison for sexual abuse of a girl, and for keeping a collection of child pornography.

Patrick E. Fatta, formerly diving coach for two Lancaster County high schools, was sentenced Friday in Lancaster County Court after pleading guilty in July to felony counts of child pornography and misdemeanor indecent assault of a child.

Judge Joseph Madenspacher ordered a 2¾ to-7-year sentence, to be served in state prison. Fatta will serve five years of probation, following parole, Madenspacher ordered.

Fatta also must register under Megan's Law for the rest of his life.

Recently diving coach for Hempfield and Manheim Township high schools, Fatta was removed from his position when West Hempfield Township police filed charges in November 2014.

During the child-pornography investigation, police discovered Fatta sexually abused a girl at his home between 2009 and 2013.

Assistant District Attorney Janie Swinehart prosecuted the case.

West Hempfield police Detective George Brace and Cpl. Douglas Ober filed charges.
