Ranger Kelso was able to provide assistance to a citizen attempting suicide in a parked vehicle after hours at Lancaster County Central Park. He was able to assist by getting him to hand over his weapon, deescalate the situation, contact dispatch and get the individual to the hospital to receive medical care.
Faced with an armed and emotionally distraught person, Officer Kelso's professionalism and compassion, along with fortuitous timing, saved a life. A testament to his confidence in managing incidents like this along with the training and the leadership the Lancaster County Parks Rangers display each day.
