On Tuesday, August 29th, the Lancaster County Commissioners presented a check in the amount of $150,000 to Caernarvon Township through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding for Clean Water and Natural Area Conservation projects. The funding will go towards reducing erosion across properties within the Knobby Hill area of the township. ARPA funding for this project was approved by the Lancaster County Commissioners at the December 21st, 2022, meeting.

Caernarvon Township is working to upgrade a drainage basin that manages approximately 56 acres within the municipality. They plan to utilize the funding from the county to install inlet structures, pipes and a retention basin to significantly decrease erosion across more than 40 properties within the township. In addition to the benefit for property owners, the proposed project will help to manage approximately 6.3 acres of stormwater on top of the drainage basin, providing cleaner water for the township. Caernarvon Township anticipates completion of this project by December of this year.
