On Monday, July 24th, the Lancaster County Commissioners presented a check in the amount of $244,000 to Elizabethtown Borough through American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding for Water, Sewer and Stormwater projects. The funding will go towards upgrading their Wastewater Treatment Plant’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system. ARPA funding for this project was approved by the Lancaster County Commissioners at the December 21st, 2022, meeting.
Elizabethtown Borough had recently completed the development of their municipal Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) to sustain and grow their current wastewater treatment plant. Among the projects identified in the borough’s CIP was an upgrade for the technology utilized by the WWTP. The current SCADA system is outdated. The funds will be utilized by the borough to replace the current system and its related electrical components, allowing the WWTP to run more efficiently and effectively for customers in the borough.
