[ARCHIVED] UPDATE: Man Charged in Killings of Two Men is in Custody; Not Eligible for Bail

EzequielAlmodovarNEW

An Upper Leacock Township man charged with killing two men earlier this week surrendered Friday.

Ezequiel B. Almodovar, 36, is charged with two counts of homicide for shooting Jonathan Rivera and Eugenio Morales-Torres Monday evening at Almodovar’s home on Hunsecker Road.

A warrant was active for Almodovar’s arrest since East Lampeter Township police filed charges on Wednesday afternoon.

Almodovar also is charged with arson, tampering with evidence, and two counts of abuse of a corpse.

He is presumed innocent.

District Judge Denise Commins arraigned Almodovar on all charges Friday afternoon. He is not eligible for bail.

Almodovar surrendered, with his attorney, at East Lampeter Township Police Department just after noon.

Rivera and Morales-Torres were found Tuesday morning in a burned vehicle parked on a farm lane on Charlestown Road in Manor Township.

The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office confirmed the decedents’ identities.

Police determined the burned vehicle belonged to Morales-Torres and was seen at Almodovar’s home on Monday night.

The investigation remains active. While no further charges have been filed at this time, police are investigating whether anyone else was involved in these criminal acts.

We are respectfully requesting the media refrain from naming any witnesses (should that information become known) so not to endanger anyone, nor jeopardize the active ongoing investigation.
