[ARCHIVED] LOCK YOUR VEHICLES: Spike in Thefts of Vehicles and What’s Inside – Most were Unlocked

PoliceLights3

There has been a spike in vehicle thefts, and thefts of what’s inside vehicles in Lancaster County.

Law enforcement is offering simple advice to vehicle owners so they do not become victims:

LOCK YOUR VEHICLES AND DO NOT KEEP VALUABLES INSIDE THEM.

The majority of the thefts have involved vehicles with unlocked doors. Many of the stolen vehicles had keys inside, either in a console, the ignition or elsewhere in the vehicle.

Many of the incidents happened in Lancaster city, but the crimes have also been reported elsewhere.

Law enforcement advises residents to be vigilant of individuals who appear to be walking aimlessly in a neighborhood looking at parked vehicles.

Do not hesitate to contact your local police department.
