[ARCHIVED] 'Danger' Jailed up to 25 Years for 4 Illegal Drugs, 2 Stolen Pistols in Lancaster City

A Lancaster man with several prior felonies will serve up to 25 years in prison for his latest crimes – dealing four different illegal drugs and having two stolen guns.

Javier Gomez, 43, had quantities of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and marijuana when Lancaster city police conducted a vehicle stop last year on South Prince Street.

Police also found two pistols in the car – both reported stolen.

At a recent sentencing hearing, Lancaster County Judge Donald Totaro ordered a 12½-to-25-year prison term, saying Gomez is a danger to society and previous efforts and opportunities to rehabilitate his behavior have failed.

Gomez, formerly of Wabank Road, was convicted of four drug-related felonies prior to the recent case.

He was convicted at a jury trial in August and a non-jury trial in October of numerous offenses.

Found in the vehicle:

- Over 400 grams of cocaine

- 30 grams of heroin

- 80 grams of marijuana

- 11 grams of methamphetamine

- Two pistols: a Ruger 9mm and a Charter Arms .38 special

Assistant District Attorney Barry Goldman, who won the convictions, called Gomez a career criminal with a record that spans nearly 20 years.

Gomez has shown no remorse or accountability for his actions, Goldman said. He noted Gomez has a college education, so has the ability to be a productive member of society.

Lancaster city police Officer Jessica Higgins filed charges.
