A Lancaster County jury recently convicted – after six minutes of deliberation – a man of stealing a car at a Lancaster city bottle shop.

Shawn P. Ambrose was found guilty of felony theft regarding an Aug. 2, 2017, incident at Friendly Greek Bottle Shop at 549 New Holland Ave.

Assistant District Attorney Ryan Tilley presented evidence at the two-day trial that Ambrose stole a man’s Saturn, which was parked in the lot with keys inside. Ambrose also took a wallet and cellphone from the car, which was later found in the 500 block of East King Street.

Lancaster County Judge Jeffery Wright, who presided over the trial, will sentence Ambrose, 34, after a background check in about two months. State sentencing guidelines call for a state-prison term.

Lancaster city police Detective Adam Dommel, of the Lancaster County Auto Crime Unit, led the investigation. Tilley showed jurors surveillance-video footage which helped connect Ambrose to the theft.

The jury returned its verdict on March 1.

Detective Dommel filed charges.
